It is in Ampuis, in the heart of the Rhone Valley, that Domaine Pichat was born. For a long time simple owners of a two-hectare vineyard, the history of the Pichat family began a new chapter in the year 2000, when Stéphane Pichat decided to vinify and market the fruit of his production.

After confidential beginnings (barely 900 bottles produced), the Domaine Pichat has now expanded. Its vineyard now covers four hectares spread over two appellations (Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu) and its annual production now reaches 20,000 bottles.

The vineyard of Domaine Pichat is made up of sandy schist soils benefiting from the planting of Syrah (the main grape variety) and Viognier. The vineyard is worked manually according to the principles of reasoned viticulture, without insecticides or pesticides, using only AB (Organic Agriculture) approved phytosanitary products.

The Côte-Rôtie Domaine Pichat Löss 2018 is surely the most accessible red wine of this vintage.
Presenting a beautiful deep purple color, Löss 2018 reveals a bouquet of ripe black fruits coated with notes of burnt wood.
Powerful and concentrated, it offers a moderately full-bodied attack followed by a mid-palate tinged with abundant juicy plums and a multitude of intermingled black and red berries, supported by a velvety tannic structure, before finishing with a remarkably persistent astringent finish.

Côte-Rôtie Domaine Pichat Löss 2018 will be best enjoyed from 2021 onwards and should continue to gain in maturity until at least 2030.
