Simple farmers who have been cultivating their land in mixed farming for more than six generations, the members of the Ogier family mainly produced grapes and apricots for sale to the trade.
It was in 1983 that Michel Ogier, anticipating the growth of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, decided to market the first Domaine Ogier cuvée. Six years later, faced with the success of his wines, he stopped selling to the trade to vinify his entire harvest.

In 1997, Stéphane Ogier joined his father after graduating in oenology. He quickly took over the management of the estate and considerably expanded it by acquiring plots of land in Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph and Condrieu.

In 2004, the construction of a new ultra-modern cellar was completed, where all the estate's vintages are now vinified and aged. This exceptional cellar allows Stéphane Ogier to use all his audacity and oenological knowledge to reveal the full extent of his talent, to the point where he is now considered one of the greatest contemporary winemakers in the Rhone Valley by the majority of critics.

In the glass, the Côte-Rôtie Fongeant Stéphane Ogier 2016 has a superb purple colour with garnet reflections and exhales a delicately fruity nose with a hint of wood and vegetal scents.
On the palate, the Côte-Rôtie Fongeant 2016 offers a moderately full-bodied attack. The red fruit aromas unfurl in the mouth and grow, revealing notes of tea and cedar. The elegant, finely crafted tannic structure coats the tongue and the inside of the cheeks to reveal a fresh, velvety finish with remarkable length.

The Côte-Rôtie Fongeant 2016 is a wine for keeping. It is ready to drink but will continue to mature at least until 2035.
