After studying oenology in Beaune, Stéphane Ogier took over the management of the family estate, giving it a new dynamic. Indeed, following his impetus, the estate is modernising and expanding quickly, going from a simple plot of land to a vineyard of about twenty hectares spread over Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Julien, Condrieu and various PGI (Protected Geographical Indication).
In 2004, Stéphane Ogier had a new ultra-modern winery built, allowing him to fully express his know-how and his incredible audacity. Since then, the small family property has become one of the most highly rated estates in the Rhône Valley, raising Stéphane Ogier among the elite of Côte-Rôtie winegrowers.
In the glass, the Côte-Rôtie Bertholon Stéphane Ogier 2016 has a magnificent garnet/purple colour and a bouquet of red fruits and cherries intermingled with woody notes of cedar.
On the palate, Côte-Rôtie Bertholon 2016 offers a more powerful and full-bodied attack than the other vintages of the vintage. In the mid-palate, it blossoms, letting out an abundance of small red berries supported by fine, silky tannins, to end on a long, persistent and delicately velvety finish.
The Côte-Rôtie Bertholon Stéphane Ogier 2016 is a great wine for cellaring. It can already be enjoyed but will benefit from a few more years in the cellar. It should remain at its peak of maturity until 2035.
