The Domaine Saint-Préfert is a small property in the Rhone Valley located in the AOC Châteauneuf du Pape. Bought by Isabel Ferrando in 2002, the estate converted to organic farming gradually, and finally obtained its Organic Agriculture certification in 2013.

Its vineyard, composed of different plots, extends over 22 hectares of stony soil, pebbles and gravel allowing the vines to take deep roots. The geographical location of the property, close to the Mont Ventoux, is a great help to an environmentally friendly viticulture: the Mistral wind chases away parasites and protects the vines from certain diseases.

In the glass, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine Saint-Préfert 2018 has a beautiful purple color and lets emerge a rich and complex bouquet tinged with notes of red and black fruits as well as hints of Provencal herbs gaining in intensity after a few shakes of the glass.
On the palate, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine Saint-Préfert 2018 is just as seductive as on the nose. Full-bodied and incredibly concentrated, it opens with a full-bodied attack followed by a thick and silky mid-palate. The fruity aromas are perfectly transcribed and finely delineated, with raspberries, blackberries and juicy cherries, supported by fine tannins. The fruit aromas develop and evolve as the finish approaches, ending with a delicious touch of liquorice, lining the palate for long seconds.

The Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine Saint-Préfert 2018 is unquestionably a wine for laying down. Although it is already ready for tasting, it will continue to improve for at least ten years.
