Château de Ferrand, Grand Cru of Saint-Emilion since 2012, is located in Sainte-Hippolyte, in the heart of the Saint-Emilion AOC. Its vineyard covers an area of 32 hectares of deep clay with a limestone subsoil where vines (average age: 30 years) of Merlot (75%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) are planted.
The estate, in a concern to respect the soil and biodiversity, follows the principles of sustainable agriculture and carries out manual harvesting. The wine making process is also traditional and meticulous, with long macerations and vats followed by a patient ageing in oak barrels.
Blend of 2017 : 86% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon
Château de Ferrand 2017 is dressed in a magnificent intense purple colour with ruby reflections on the edge of the glass.
It reveals an elegant and charming bouquet of small cooked berries wrapped in subtle scents of violets, wood and a delicate roasted touch.
On the palate, Château de Ferrand 2017 offers a full-bodied attack before revealing a rich and ample mid-palate, full of ripe and fresh fruit in successive layers, supported by fine and granular tannins, until revealing a delightfully long and fruity finish.
