The château is located in the place called La Grave, at the entrance of Fronsac and the exit from Libourne. The Chateau La Fleur Cailleau 2019 is planted on clay-limestone soils in the vineyard owned by Paul Barre in the heart of the AOC Canon-Fronsac.
This wine is a blend of three grape varieties: the Merlot 70%, Cabernet Franc 25% and Malbec 5%, with vines averaging 30 to 40 years old. This Canon-Fronsac will evolve very well over time for a minimum of 15 years.
Gabriel, son of Paul Barre, and his wife Edith, who are now in charge of the vineyard, are continuing the work begun by his father: biodynamic viticulture. They implement with passion the work of the soil with the draught horse. The style of wines, centred on fruit and energy, corresponds well to the delicate vinification implemented, as well as to the ageing in old barrels and the lowest possible dosage of sulphur.
To the eye, we discover a ruby red colour with orange reflections.
The Château La Fleur Cailleau reveals a very fruity nose, centred on ripe fruit.
On the palate it reveals a supple attack where we find a lot of ripe fruit discovered on the nose, truffle notes will come to settle on a long finish full of freshness.
The tannins of this wine are still very present, and reveal a very interesting ageing potential.
We appreciate the balance and fullness of this La Fleur Cailleau 2019 cuvee, both elegant and subtle. This cuvee goes very well with meat, tournedos rossini, grilled prime rib but also with ceps « à la bordelaise ».
