Château Branaire-Ducru, Quatrième Cru Classé, is located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. Its vineyard extends over about fifty hectares of deep gravel resting on a clay subsoil. The estate's grape varieties are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (22%), Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (4% each).
The vinification is made in a fragmented way, in vats of multiple sizes, in order to respect the typicity of the grape varieties and plots. This is followed by an 18 month ageing period in oak barrels, half of which are renewed each year.
Château Branaire-Ducru 2017 shows itself dressed in a magnificent deep purple colour with ruby highlights.
On the nose, it has a complex and charming bouquet built around a core of cooked black berries and ripe and juicy red and black fruits. The aeration allows tertiary notes of flowers and smoke to emerge.
On the palate, Château Branaire-Ducru 2017 shows exceptional suppleness and a soft, velvety texture. The aromas of red and black fruits benefit from a beautiful concentration that invades the palate with a lively sensation of freshness. The discreet finish is enhanced by elegant touches of warm spices.
