Historical estate of the Saint-Julien appellation, the vineyard of Château Branaire-Ducru extends over about fifty hectares planted with vines of an average age of 35 years (Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot as well as Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc).
The Branaire-Ducru vineyard is located a few steps from the Gironde estuary. Its soils are composed of Quaternary gravel and clay.
The property, bought by Jean-Baptiste Branayre in 1680, was consecrated as a Quatrième Cru Classé in 1855.
Château Branaire-Ducru 2016 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (64%), Merlot (27%), Petit Verdot (6%) and Cabernet Franc (3%).
Dressed in a beautiful garnet colour, Château Branaire-Ducru 2016 has an intense bouquet of black fruits. Subtle dried tobacco notes bring an extra touch of elegance to it.
On the palate, the Branaire-Ducru 2016 shows all its strength. Straight and structured, it offers a firm and straightforward attack. The power of red and black fruits is enhanced by warm hints of black pepper, blond tobacco and toasted notes. These aromas unfold in the middle of the mouth and evolve until the finish, with a beautiful length and great persistence.
Château Branaire-Ducru 2016 is already a great success. Give it 5 or 6 years in bottle and it will become a must for the vintage!
