The 1998 vintage is synonymous of extremely low yields and production for Petrus. Indeed, only 2300 cases have left the domain. In other words, with such a small amount of Petrus produced, it is not surprising that it is practically perfect.
With a beautiful dark purple, almost black colour, Pétrus 1998 offers an extremely complex and complete bouquet. From the very first nose, it is a cascade of aromas that invade the nose: intense black fruits, ripe plums, dark chocolate, licorice, various spices and black olives blend into a perfectly coherent, subtle and balanced whole.
In the mouth, Petrus 1998 offers a very well integrated tannic structure, close to perfection. It is a full-bodied and concentrated Pétrus that spreads smoothly on the palate with flavours of candied black fruit, truffles, earth and licorice.
Finally, Pétrus 1998 offers a particularly long and persistent finish.
As always with Pétrus, its main problem is its price. With such high quality and low production, only a few lucky ones will have the chance to taste it!
