Second Cru Classé
Château Léoville Barton 1988 is the result of a complex blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Merlot, harvested on the estate's vineyard, in the heart of the Saint Julien appellation.
Like many of its Médoc neighbours, the 1988 vintage produced hard, very tannic wines with impressive ageing potential.
Château Léoville Barton 1988 has a beautiful deep, dark ruby colour.
On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet of tertiary notes (tobacco and earth) lying on a bed of ripe red and black fruits.
On the palate, Château Léoville Barton 1988 is medium-bodied with softened tannins and great youth. It offers great aromatic depth, full of small red fruits, blackcurrants, coated with woody, toasty notes as well as a few vegetal notes of dried tobacco and a hint of minerality.
