About Château Faurie de Souchard 2016
Bottle (75cl)

Located in the heart of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation, Château Faurie de Souchard dominates a small vineyard of barely ten hectares of clay and clay-sand slopes. Its name comes from its geographical location, a place called "Petit-Faurie" and from the name of its former owners, the De Souchard family.

The vineyard of Château Faurie de Souchard is dominated by Merlot vines (75%), supplemented by Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The vines have an average age of 26 years and are worked in sustainable agriculture with, among other things, green harvesting and meticulous pruning.

After manual harvesting and careful sorting of the grapes, Château Faurie de Souchard 2016 has benefited from a 14 to 16 month ageing process in oak barrels (75% new and 25% of one wine) depending on the needs of each plot.

In the glass, Château Faurie de Souchard 2016 has a superb deep ruby/purple colour.
On the nose, it exhibits an opulent, concentrated bouquet of jammy red and black berries wrapped in complex notes of wood, burnt herbs, and a subtle hint of cocoa.
On the palate, Château Faurie de Souchard 2016 opens with a moderate attack giving way to an elegant mid-palate, supported by a soft and velvety tannic structure. The fruity aromas on the nose are perfectly transcribed and blend with the ripe tannins that diffuse a skillfully dosed freshness before finishing on a long and incredibly fragrant finish.

Produced for long ageing, Château Faurie de Souchard 2016 is just entering its peak of maturity. It will continue to mature for the next 20 years. A little patience!
