Since 2006, the Château Bahans Haut Brion (second wine of Château Haut Brion) has been renamed in Clarence de Haut Brion.
As the second wine of the great Château Haut Brion (the oldest classified Premier Grand Crus vineyard), Bahans is not allowed to make a mistake.
It must be the first of the second wines. And he takes up the challenge brilliantly!
The vineyard of Bahans Haut Brion extends over an area of 43 hectares with an average production of 48,000 bottles. Chateau Bahans Haut Brion 2002 is the result of a tri-varietal blend composed of a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
Chateau Bahans Haut Brion 2002 is dressed in a burgundy robe with warm reflections.
On the nose, it offers a delicate and complex bouquet of black and red fruits, wrapped in vanilla and cocoa flavours and subtly enhanced by a balsamic touch.
In the mouth, the very fine tannins of Bahans Haut Brion 2002 give it a silky texture, which caresses the palate. The fruits present on the nose define themselves even better. The cherries, blackberries and blackcurrants are exhaled by woody notes, blended with smoke till the finish, long and persistent.
Chateau Bahans Haut Brion 2002 is one of the best second wines of Pessac Léognan this year again. And with its strong ageing potential, it could well have more surprises in the years to come!
It will be perfect with a grilled beef dish.
Beef - Veal - Poultry
