Located to the west of Saint-Emilion, on a gravelly terroir, the Château Figeac vineyard is the largest in the entire appellation with a cultivated area of 40 hectares (out of the 54 hectares of the property).
In addition to its gigantic size, Château Figeac is characterised by an unusual variety of vines for the appellation: a dominance of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (35% each) for only 30% of Merlot.
The Premier Cru Classé is made in the traditional way, with manual harvesting at full maturity, then parcelled vinification, followed by 15 to 18 months of maturation in new barrels.
Château Figeac 2018 is built around a blend of Merlot (37%), Cabernet Sauvignon (33%) and Cabernet Franc (30%).
In the glass, it has a magnificent, very dark purple, almost black colour and a lively and generous bouquet with plum and black berry aromas intertwined with delicious notes of violet, tea and cocoa as well as discreet touches of undergrowth and earth.
On the palate, Château Figeac 2018 offers a powerful and full-bodied attack, bursting with tons of ripe and juicy fruit. The mid-palate has a beautiful tannic structure, straight and granular, which coats the black fruit aromas in a silky and refreshing texture before ending with a rich, dense, and incredibly long finish.
Château Figeac 2018 is undoubtedly one of the greatest successes of the estate to date!
