Founded in 1811, Château Cos d'Estournel quickly earned an exceptional reputation within the Great Wines of Bordeaux thanks to its cellars surmounted by exotic pagodas and the immense quality of its wines.

Its vineyard, located in Saint Estèphe, near the Gironde estuary, covers an area of 91 hectares of gravel and clay-limestone soils and is planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot as well as a few parcels of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Unlike the majority of Bordeaux estates, the vineyards of Château Cos d'Estournel did not suffer from the frosts at the end of April 2017. However, the vines suffered from a water deficit two months later, in June, which resulted in smaller berries with thicker skin than usual.
But sometimes, some unfavorable conditions at first sight later turn out to be blessings. This is the case with this hydric stress which seems to have allowed the vines to develop exceptional qualities.

Composed around a core of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (56% and 42%), Les Pagodes de Cos 2017 is completed with small quantities of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (1% each) and is adorned with a beautiful dark purple robe with ruby highlights.
On the nose, Les Pagodes de Cos 2017 distills an intense bouquet of small black and red berries such as blackcurrants, blackberries and currants. After a few seconds the nose becomes more complex, leaving floral and earthy notes emerge.
On the palate, this 2017 vintage from Pagodes de Cos offers a medium-bodied wine full of ripe fruits supported by a fine and velvety tannic structure. Rich and intense, the aromas of black and red fruits grow in the mouth until concluding with a remarkably long and tasty finish.
