Château Faugères 2012 was a late vintage with reduced yields due to the vagaries of nature. Between a cold and dry winter, a late but very hot and dry summer, and some health problems of the old Merlot vines, the 2012 vintage was not looking very promising...

But Château Faugères has not been newly admitted to the very closed club of Grands Crus Classés for nothing, the talent and know-how of its cellar master have once again worked miracles!

Consisting of a blend of Merlot (85%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%), Château Faugères 2012 has shown very low yields of around 18hl/hour.
This low yield is probably due to a drastic selection of the grapes by a careful cellar master.

Château Faugères 2012 is dressed in a lovely dense and intense purple robe.
On the nose, it gives off a bouquet of black fruits, between blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry.
On the palate, black fruits are always here, enhanced by gourmet caramel touches and toasted notes of charcoal. The whole is supported by medium-bodied ripe tannins.
It ends on a persistent finish ends with subtle smoky notes of crushed rose petals.

Château Faugères 2012 does not usurp its title of Grand Cru Classé. Let's give it a few more years to unveil its full potential!
