Connetable Talbot was born in the 1960s. Produced by the famous Château Talbot, it was one of the first Seconds Vins produced in Saint-Julien.
Made from a blend of Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), grown on a terroir of Medoc gravel, Connetable Talbot 2016 has been vinified in wooden vats followed by maturing in oak barrels (half of which are new).
In the glass, the Connetable 2016 shows a beautiful medium-intense purple color and diffuses a shy bouquet tinged with floral and vegetal notes. After a few swirls, it opens up, exhaling fresh and charming aromas of red and black fruits, plums and small berries, as well as vegetal notes of laurel and cloves.
On the palate, the Connetable Talbot 2016 is moderately full-bodied, with an elegant mid-palate packed with juicy, refreshing black and red fruits and evolving to a rich, spicy finish.
Despite its Second Wine status, the Connetable Talbot 2016 remains a wine for cellaring. With its peak of ripeness beginning in 2019, it should continue to evolve for at least another decade or so.
