Run since 1979 by the Lurton family (managers of the great Château d'Yquem), Château Bouscaut is one of the few properties to be classified both in red and white.
Its vineyard is located in Cadaujac, in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation and covers an area of 47 hectares, most of which (40ha) is used to grow red grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec).
Château Bouscaut 2017 red is produced from a blend dominated by Merlot (69%) and completed with Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Malbec (11%). After manual harvesting, the fruit is vinified in the traditional way, in thermoregulated stainless steel vats and then aged in oak barrels, 50% of which are new for a period of 14 to 18 months.
In the glass, Château Bouscaut 2017 red has a magnificent dark purple colour with ruby tints and a bouquet of fresh and crispy black berries, enhanced by a touch of warm spices.
On the palate, Château Bouscaut 2017 red offers a fresh and ample attack. In the middle palate, the fruit on the nose unfolds in layers, with blackcurrant, cherries and blackberry, supported by a velvety and perfectly balanced tannic line before revealing an elegant finish and a beautiful length although noticeably astringent.
