The Clémentin is the second wine of Château Pape Clément, the famous Cru Classé of Pessac-Léognan. Despite its status of second wine, the Clémentin de Pape Clément quickly earned a place among the best wines of the appellation.

The vineyard of Château Pape Clément covers a large area of 65 hectares with 47 hectares dedicated to red wines. It extends on a soil of clayey gravel from the Quaternary period and is managed on a plot by plot basis, according to the methods of integrated viticulture. The estate is certified High Environmental Value level 3.

The Clémentin de Pape Clément 2019 is a blend of Merlot (65%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (35%) aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (66% new barrels) and in casks (7% of the juices).

In the glass, the 2019 vintage of the Clementin has a magnificent purple colour with a ruby red rim.
It diffuses a complex and distinguished bouquet of jammy red and black fruits enhanced by vegetal notes of sage and forest floor. After a few swirls, subtle notes of spices bring a gourmet touch to the blend.
On the palate, the Clémentin de Pape Clément 2019 opens with a medium-bodied attack. Raspberry and redcurrant aromas develop in the mid-palate, supported by a velvety tannic structure, releasing a great fruity freshness on an elegant and persistent finish that lasts for long seconds.
