2002 was not an easy vintage for the Chateau Léoville Las Cases, only 43% of the production went into the composition of the wine. The blend includes 66.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14.5% Merlot, 13.9% Cabernet Franc and the rest in Petit Verdot.
Little anecdote: the alcohol level of this 2002 vintage is the highest ever reached by a Château Léovile Las Cases wine.

Château Léoville Las Cases 2002 is dressed in a beautiful purple robe of medium intensity.
On the nose, it reveals a subtle bouquet of fruits dominated by blackcurrant, woody notes, as well as a hint of liquorice wrapping and tenacious.
On the palate, Château Léoville Las Cases 2002 offers a powerful attack. It is a wine with a huge and ample body, with very present fruits and very powerful tannins.
Its finish is very long and particularly pure.
