Ranked Second Growth in 1855, Château Léoville Barton is one of the most beautiful properties on the left bank of Bordeaux. Its vineyard covers 47 hectares in the heart of Saint Julien and is planted with 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc.
The history of the Léoville estate dates back to the 19th century. At that time, the winery extended from the vineyard of Beychevelle to the Latour one.
Château Léoville Barton was born in 1826, following the purchase of part of the vineyard by Hugh Barton.
Today, more than a century later, the property is still in the hands of the Barton family (as well as the Château Langoa Barton) and is managed by Anthony Barton and his daughter.
The wines of Château Léoville Barton are renowned for their expressiveness and power, evolving into harmony and elegance as the years pass.
Château Léoville Barton 2017 is built around a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (93%) to which Merlot (7%) is added.
In the glass, it has a deep, intense garnet/purple color and reveals a charming, captivating bouquet of black fruit, blackcurrant cream, dark chocolate and woody notes. After some agitation, notes of white flowers are uncovered, bringing with them some fresh and powerful mineral touches.
Medium-bodied, Château Léoville Barton 2017 offers a firm and powerful palate, supported by a solid and velvety tannic structure. The aromas of black fruits benefit from a beautiful concentration and distil an incredible freshness on a finish with an amazing length.
