About Château Couhins 2016
Bottle (75cl)

Property of Edouard Gasqueton, which allowed it to obtain the rank of Cru Classé de Graves, Château Couhins changed its ownership in 1969. It was bought by the INRA (French National Institute for Agricultural Research), which carried out research on wine and vines there.

Since then, Château Couhins has been at the forefront of environmentally friendly and sustainable viticulture. Today, the estate is ISO 14001 certified thanks to its commitment to an EMS (Environmental Management System) approach which consists of integrating respect and protection of the environment into all aspects of the estate's life.

Château Couhins is located on a beautiful 25-hectare vineyard in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Its vineyard, spread over a clay-limestone hillside, a gravelly ridge and a sandy-clay area, is worked according to the principles of sustainable development with manual harvesting.

Produced from a blend dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (50% and 40% respectively) and supplemented by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (5% each), Château Couhins 2016 has been aged in oak barrels for 12 months.

In the glass, Château Couhins 2016 has a beautiful garnet-purpled robe with ruby highlights.
On the nose, it has an elegant, charming bouquet of black fruits, blueberries, and black currants, as well as more subtle notes of wood and wet earth.
On the palate, Château Couhins 2016 offers a fresh, silky mouthfeel. The layered mid-palate reveals itself in successive layers, supported by a soft, flawless tannic structure, before finishing on a remarkably long finish with a delicate vegetal tinge.

Château Couhins 2016 is an excellent value for money, which should reach its peak of maturity in 2020 and remain there for at least ten years!
