Located in the Montagne-Saint-Emilion appellation, Château Clos de Boüard was bought in 2016 by the spouses Loïc Maillet and Coralie de Boüard (already owner of Château La Fleur de Boüard).
Its small vineyard of about thirty hectares is based on an exceptional clay and limestone terroir. Indeed, with prestigious neighbours such as Château Valandraud or Château Troplong-Mondot, the wine potential of the estate is obvious.
Château Clos de Boüard 2017 is produced from a single grape variety: Merlot. The grapes were harvested by hand before being vinified in full vinification, in accordance with techniques already practiced in the cellars of Château La Fleur de Bouärd.
In the glass, Château Clos de Boüard 2017 has a superb deep purple colour with ruby tints.
From the first nose, it exhales a rich and complex bouquet of ripe black berries wrapped in gourmet notes of spices and cocoa, accompanied by a toasted touch.
On the palate, Château Clos de Boüard 2017 has a mellow and moderately fleshy body. The velvety tannic structure perfectly supports the aromas of juicy red and black fruits which evolve, on the finish, on warm and spicy notes.
This 2017 vintage of Château Clos de Boüard confirms the trend initiated in 2016 by its new owners: a great name for Bordeaux wine is emerging!
