The Château Canon La Gaffelière was first known under the name of La Gaffelière Boitard (name of its owner), then 1971 the estate changed hands, becoming the property of the Counts von Neipperg.
In 1983, Stephan von Neipperg takes over the management of the Château and modernizes the wine production. It is thanks to his efforts that Château Canon La Gaffelière has regained its rightful place during the last century: at the top of the Grands Crus Classés of Saint Emilion.

The Château Canon La Gaffelière 1998 is the result of a blend of three varieties typical of the Saint Emilion appellation: 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
He is dressed in a magnificent dark red, almost black colour with burgundy tints.
On the nose, Canon la Gaffelière 1998 shows a complex bouquet of plums and candied black raspberries, roasted notes and a hint of cedar.
On the palate, Château Canon la Gaffelière is full-bodied, with fine tannins still present. It is an explosion of flavours that invade the mouth, blueberries, black cherries, blackberries, wrapped in a woody oaky touch that gives off an exceptionally well-balanced and multi-layered finish.

The Château Canon la Gaffelière 1998 is fantastic and undoubtedly undervalued.
