Historic estate of Saint-Emilion, the origins of Château Canon can be traced back to 1760, when Jacques Kanon ( King's privateer) acquired the estate and built his residence there.

Today, Château Canon extends over 34 hectares, ideally facing south/south-west and surrounded by closed walls providing effective protection for the vines against winter frosts.
The vineyard benefits from a terroir made up of clay-limestone soils, perfectly adapted to the Merlot (75%) and Cabernet Franc (25%) vines, cultivated according to the principles of reasoned and plot-based viticulture. This plot-based culture allows the estate to harvest only fully ripe grapes and allows increased traceability of the fruit, facilitating localised treatment of the vines.

Made from a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, Château Canon 2012 has a magnificent dark ruby colour with deep purple tones.
On the nose, it is full and complex. From the very first swirl in the glass, it exudes a pure, concentrated bouquet of red and black berries, cherries, raspberries, and wild strawberries, with subtle notes of ripe citrus fruit, spices, and tar.
On the palate, the 2012 Canon offers a moderately full-bodied attack. Its velvety tannic structure provides a caressing texture and beautifully supports its fresh, juicy fruit aromas in a perfect balance of finesse and liveliness.

Despite a difficult 2012 vintage, Chateau Canon here achieves the prowess of delivering a true masterpiece that should enter its peak of maturity in 2020 and remain there for at least 25 years!
