The Château Calon Ségur was beginning to be ignored by critics, but this 1995 vintage changed everything. Indeed, the 1995 vintage marked a milestone in the history of the estate, the beginning of the late Mrs. Gasqueton's era.

Château Calon Ségur 1995 is the result of a blend of the four typical Saint Estèphe grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
It has a dark garnet robe with a slightly tiled dark garnet colour on the edge.
After 20 years in the bottle, Château Calon Ségur 1995 does not show any sign of ageing, quite the contrary. It offers a very young bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, plum peel, sweet tobacco, a few floral touches and a Madeira flavour.
On the palate, Château Calon Ségur 1995 is a medium-bodied wine, with an impressive depth. The tannins have matured over time, making it softer and more accessible. After a few minutes of aeration, Calon Ségur 1995 develops more noble aromas of smoke and truffles which complete the red and black fruits already present in the nose.

Château Calon Ségur 1995 is made for the long aging, it is ready to be enjoyed but it has probably not yet delivered its full potential!

Calon Ségur 1995 will be perfect with beef, lamb or game such as deer or venison.
