Château Sigalas Rabaud has a vineyard of only 14 hectares, making it the smallest of the Premier Crus Classés of Sauternes. The vineyard is made up of clay and siliceous soils and benefits, like the other Sauternes vineyards, from a microclimate that produces morning fogs that favour the appearance of botrytis cinerea, the noble rot.
The vineyard is cultivated in accordance with the principles of sustainable agriculture. The grape varieties are divided between the three typical varieties of the appellation: mainly Semillon supplemented by Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle.
Château Sigalas Rabaud benefits from a particularly meticulous harvest where each grape is picked only when perfectly ripe. This harvest is followed by fermentation in stainless steel vats and then maturing in new barrels for 18 to 24 months depending on the needs of the vintage.
In the glass, Château Sigalas Rabaud 2017 has a magnificent pale yellow colour with greenish tints and distils an enticing bouquet full of ripe white fruit aromas with hints of spices and cedar wood.
On the palate, it offers a crunchy texture. The juicy fruits (peaches, pears) quickly cover the palate, offering incredible richness and fullness to finish with a finish that is as persistent as it is decadent!
Still in its prime youth, Château Sigalas Rabaud 2017 can already be consumed. However, it will only reveal all its aromas after many years in the cellar.
Château Sigalas Rabaud 2017 will go wonderfully well with a platter of blue-veined cheeses or a fruity dessert.
