After having redoubled its efforts for many years, Château Mouton Rothschild finally won the much deserved Premier Cru Classé title in 1973.
In order to mark this change in the history of the estate, the Château's motto was changed from "Premier ne puis, second ne daigne, Mouton suis" to "Premier je suis, second je fus, Mouton ne change".

Château Mouton Rothschild 1996 is a blend of three grape varieties: 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc.
He is dressed in a beautiful dark red colour, deep and intense.
On the nose, Château Mouton Rothschild 1996 distinguishes itself from other Premiers Crus by its incredible fruity bouquet. It is an avalanche of fruits that emanates from the glass: blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry, raspberry, red and black fruits combine and mingle with woody notes of cedar and flowers.
On the palate, Château Mouton Rothschild 1996 is perfectly balanced, rich and ripe. Paradoxically, the exuberant youthfulness of the nose gives way to more mature flavours. The fruits are always very present, covered in more roasted notes, and stretch on the palate for long seconds after the last sip.
