1955 Château Mouton Rothschild is a forgotten masterpiece, eclipsed by the famous Moutons 1959 and 1961.
And yet he has nothing to envy them, quite the contrary!

1955 Château Mouton Rothschild is a blend of Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc harvested on the vineyard of the property, in the heart of the Pauillac appellation.

Despite its advanced age (over half a century), it shows no signs of excessive aging. Its deep ruby robe has only undergone a slight lightening on the edge of the glass.
On the nose, 1955Château Mouton Rothschild reveals an impressive bouquet of black fruits, blackcurrant, leather and menthol notes, coated in a mineral touch.
On the palate, this 1955 vintage still offers an amazing concentration, a balance close to perfection, powerful tannins and well extracted ripe fruit leading to a remarkably long finish.
