The Chateau is located at the place called La Grave, at the entrance of Fronsac town near Libourne. Paul Barre's vineyard is planted on sandy clay soils for the Château La Grave 2018 vintage in the heart of the AOC Fronsac.

This wine is a blend of three grape varieties: the Merlot 70%, Cabernet Franc 26% and Malbec 4%, with vines averaging 20 to 40 years old. After manual harvesting, the wine is aged for 12 months in large fiberglass vats.
Paul Barre is a visionary in the vineyard being among the first in the region to work organically, his seven hectares have been worked this way since 1990.

It is Gabriel and his wife Edith who are in charge of the vineyard now and continuing the craftsmanship started by his father: biodynamics. They implement with passion the work of soil with the draft horse. They want to draw inspiration from the past, but also impose their style, focused on fruit and energy. They choose a delicate vinification and an ageing in old barrels, to allow a slow oxygenation of the wine. To the eye, this wine appears dark and dense.
On the nose this La Grave 2018 reveals beautiful aromas of red fruit and fig.
The palate is juicy and greedy, with the character of Merlot on the entry.
The finesse and freshness are present and accompany an intense fruity touch to a beautiful finish.

La Grave 2018 from Paul Barre's vineyard will taste great with a grilled roast, a filet or even an entrecote.
