Château Ducru Beaucaillou is one of the symbols of the Médoc. Situated near the Gironde estuary, this Second Cru Classé of Saint Julien is based on a 75-hectare vineyard of quaternary gravel, an ideal terroir for the cultivation of the estate's two favourite grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and Merlot (30%). The vines, 35 years old on average, are cultivated using sustainable viticulture, respecting the environment and living organisms.

Despite the difficult weather conditions of the year 2017, with a period of great cold in April, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou did not have to suffer from frost like many Bordeaux properties. Indeed, its proximity to the estuary protected it from frost. The result is one of Saint-Julien's greatest successes for the 2017 vintage.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2017 is a blend dominated by 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by 10% Merlot. The wine was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels.

In the glass, it has a beautiful dark purple color and distils an intense and complex bouquet of red and black fruits, with blackcurrant, redcurrant, and blueberries wrapped in floral scents of violets, tea, and a touch of forest.
On the palate, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2017 offers a moderately full-bodied attack followed by a mid-palate bursting with fresh, juicy fruit aromas supported by a mellow tannic structure and great elegance. The abundant red and black fruits are perfectly delineated and enhanced by warmer notes that unfold gradually, ending on a remarkably persistent and subtly spicy finish.

The 2017 vintage of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is made for long ageing. It will remain at its peak of maturity for at least 30 years!
