Yquem is the name of a legend of Sauternes wine! Each vintage is a new monument coming out of the Château's cellars. And year after year, the legend continues to grow.

Château d' Yquem 1976 is a blend of two grape varieties, Sémillon (about 80%) and Sauvignon (about 20%).
Due to a year of severe spring drought followed by a hot summer, the rains in mid-September triggered a rapid and complete contamination of the grapes. This episode will mark the vintage with a historic record: the entire harvest will be done in just 22 days. Two tries will have sufficed, a record for the Château d' Yquem!

The 1976 vintage of Château d' Yquem shows itself in a dark golden, almost amber colour.
On the nose, Yquem 1976 offers a bouquet of unparalleled breadth and elegance. It is a veritable explosion of fruity aromas that invade the nose: exotic fruits such as pineapple, apricot, banana or melon, rounded off by subtle candied notes as well as notes of dried fruits such as coconut. There are also more greedy touches of honey and spices.
On the palate, Château d' Yquem 1976 is very concentrated and perfectly balanced. Like all sweet wines, it has a viscous, silky side, melting on the palate. The fruity aromas are even better defined than on the nose, the perfectly delineated fruits are in perfect harmony with the greedy notes. It has a hint of acidity but it remains round and velvety until its long and persistent finish.
