According to the Château Cheval Blanc, their 2003 vintage is "an original vintage, a symbol of a scorching year".

Indeed, 2003 was a very hot year and the grapes reached a superb maturity very early on. The Château Cheval Blanc had to advance its harvest in order not to allow its harvest to over ripen and preserve the aromatic balance of its wine.

Made up of a blend of 56% Cabernet Franc and 44% Merlot, Château Cheval Blanc 2003 has an intense red colour with a hint of Bordeaux.
On the nose, it gives off powerful and complex aromas of black fruit, slightly too ripe and candied. It is a bouquet of candied figs, cinnamon, and blond tobacco, accompanied by more original touches of prunes and caramel.
Château Cheval Blanc 2003 offers a rich, complex and smooth attack on the palate. The mouth is ample, the tannins are powerful and melted, the structure is harmonious.
In the middle of the mouth, roasted notes invade the taste buds with a persistent persistence and continue to spread throughout the finish, with cocoa, coffee and liquorice aromas.
