Château Cap de Mourlin is a Grand Cru Classé located on the North Coast of Saint-Emilion. Its vineyard extends over 14 hectares of clayey-limestone and clay-siliceous soils and benefits from a planting dominated by Merlot (65%), supplemented by Cabernet Franc (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The vines, 34 years old on average, are worked on a plot by plot basis and according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, with manual harvesting, regular ploughing of the soil and avoiding chemical treatments as much as possible.
In the glass, Château Cap de Mourlin 2019 has a beautiful deep purple colour, almost black, and exhales an intense and complex bouquet of cooked and jammy black fruits wrapped in tertiary notes of liquorice, tobacco and cedar.
On the palate, it opens with a moderately full-bodied attack. The black fruit aromas, at first shy, develop in the mid-palate, supported by a velvety tannic line and gradually allowing touches of spices and dried herbs to emerge before concluding on a young and refreshing finish.
