Plantation Rum Easter

  • Plantation rum: an invitation to travel.

Plantation Rums come from the most prestigious distilleries in Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Panama.
The director, Alexandre Gabriel, is passionate about rum and cognac and has been a "master rum blender" since 2012. He travels the world to concoct the best rums.

    The range of plantation rums

Among the best rum are rums from Fiji, Jamaica and the Caribbean. These are rums that contain the Cognac know-how of Alexandre Gabriel.

The Plantation house is also known for its presence in bars. From the overproof to the classic white rum, Plantation rums are perfectly suited to be prepared in cocktails.

There are also limited series named "single cask", "vintage" and "extreme".

The different origins of plantation rum

    Barbados

With over 350 years of rum production in the country, Barbados is often referred to as the birthplace of rum. This history began in the 17th century when Jews settled on the island and began cultivating cane for its sugar. Their flavor profile is smooth and one of the most gourmet.

    Jamaica

Rum production in Jamaica began when Spanish colonizers brought rum from Barbados as currency during the triangular trade period.
Jamaican rums are powerful and complex.

    Trinidad

Cane has always been present in Trinidad, and since the British presence in the late 18th century, rum production has been important. Rum is celebrated during the annual carnival each year. Trinidad and Tobago rums are fruity and rich.

    Guyana

Guyana is located on the South American continent but is often linked to the Caribbean when talking about rum.
Guyana rums are full-bodied and very aromatic.

    Panama

Panama is one of the newest rum producers compared to its neighbors. The rums produced are light and pleasant.

    Fiji Islands

Cane is endemic to the Fiji Islands, but it was when the British colonized the islands that production developed exponentially. These rums are most often reduced thanks to the clear water of these volcanic islands.
Fijian rums are elegant and fragrant.

  • Did you know that contrary to some preconceived ideas, lamb will marry perfectly with a red wine?

Contrary to a long-held principle that has fortunately fallen into disuse today, lamb meat, although white, will ideally go well with a red wine, and preferably a Bordeaux. Care should be taken to avoid all wines that are too concentrated and full of new wood. On the contrary, one will look for elegant tannins and a vivacity that one will find more easily in the soils of the Medoc or Graves.

    And for chocolate dessert ?
If the white wine, and the red wine, can abound with aromas of chocolate, typical of mature wines, one also finds more opulent wines proposing this roasted aroma. The wines will have to compose with a certain sweetness in order to "fight" with cocoa. This is why we prefer a "mutated" wine, if possible on an old vintage, or a rosé champagne, acidulated and fruity.

It is in this perspective that the Chateau.com team has composed its selection of wines for Easter.
