Pierre and Sophie Larmandier, owners of Domaine Larmandier Bernier, have risen to the challenge of combining natural biodynamic viticulture with the creation of great champagnes praised by wine merchants and sommeliers around the world.
Made from old vines of Pinots Noirs harvested in Vertus as well as Chardonnays and Pinots Gris, Larmandier Bernier Rosé de Saignée Extra brut 1er Cru is aged according to a technique rarely used in Champagne: after having been sorted manually on a sorting table, only the best grapes are left to macerate.
Then comes the partial destemming of the grains followed by their cold maceration for two to three days, then the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, which are triggered by the indigenous yeasts alone.
This process is followed, of a traditional breeding of the Domaine Larmandier Bernier, on lees during nearly one year, then of a manual disgorging carried out 6 months before expedition with a very discreet dosage of 3g/l.
Thanks to this manufacturing method, champagne Larmandier Bernier Rosé de Saignée extra brut 1er Cru distills in the mouth a taste of crushed flowers, red fruits and sweet spices arriving dynamically by successive layers as well as a concentrated finish.
