Premier Cru Classé
Château Margaux, First Growth, represents by its quality (and name) the quintessence of the Margaux appellation. It is made from a traditional blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
1972 is a difficult vintage, but the Chateau Margaux 1972 is a success.
This wine is more than 40 years old and is dressed in a dark purple colour, almost black, slightly browned at the edges.
It exhales an elegant bouquet of red and black berries and plums as well as floral notes that add a touch of femininity.
On the palate, this 1972 Margaux offers a great aromatic complexity, mainly black and dried fruits, but also molasses, leather, soil and hot spices. It has good acidity on the palate, with light tannins but still quite persistent for a wine of this age.
There are only the biggest estates to succeed in producing a masterpiece in a difficult vintage. The Château Margaux is one of them, and succeeds with the 1972 Château Margaux!
