Château de Fargues is one of the best wines in the Sauternes appellation, even among the best wines in the world.
The 1988 vintage could have been catastrophic but, fortunately, an Indian summer saved the harvest thanks to late harvests.
Made up of a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, Château de Fargues 1988 presents an elegant, intense amber colour.
On the nose, it distils a bouquet of powerful aromas of ripe citrus fruit, clementine and mandarin, accompanied by vegetable notes.
On the palate, Chateau de Fargues 1988 is perfectly balanced between fresh acidity and aromas of ripe fruit and sugar-soaked fruit. There are notes of citrus fruits, mangoes and apricots covered with jam and honey, as well as a light spicy touch that adds to the long and persistent finish.
