About Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin 2018

Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin's Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2018 is produced from a 100% Chardonnay blend. The vines are about 50 years old on average and are cultivated on a small plot of just 1.76ha composed of calcareous marl soils, stony gangs and veins of blue clay. It is these blue clay veins that give the wines their incomparable minerality.

With a concern for authenticity and respect for life, the estate works according to the principles of sustainable viticulture by maintaining the soil through regular ploughing.

The manual harvest is followed by a vinification mainly in stainless steel vats with a part in oak barrels. This is followed by an ageing period of 8 to 10 months, fining and filtration if necessary according to the specificities of the vintage.

In the glass, the Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin 2018 shows a beautiful pale yellow colour with golden reflections and distils a bouquet of white fruits and mineral notes.
After a few swirls in the glass, it opens and reveals more complex aromas of spring flowers, brioche, various spices and a hint of menthol.
On the palate, the Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin 2018 offers a very round, fat and elegant touch. The aromas of juicy and crunchy white fruits are perfectly transcribed and enhanced by particularly persistent mineral and iodine notes.

Still young, the Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin 2018 will improve for at least fifteen years, gaining in power and complexity while retaining its incredible mineral structure!

The Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2018 will go wonderfully well with a seafood platter (especially lobster) or a platter of pressed cheeses.
