About Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux 2000
Bottle (75cl)

The Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux is undoubtedly the first of the second wines. Indeed, if most of the second wines of the Bordeaux region were created in the last 30 to 40 years, the Pavillon Rouge was born in 1908. Its production was then stopped before resuming under the direction of André Mentzelopoulos in 1977.

The Pavillon Rouge comes from the same terroir as its illustrious elder, Château Margaux. The grapes used in its production are the youngest in the field, those that do not yet meet the complexity requirements of the Premier Grand Cru.
However, the Pavillon rouge is not an inferior wine, it represents a younger approach to Château Margaux: the vines that were used for its production will finish, with time, to enter into the blending of the first wine!

The Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux 2000 is a blend of 4 grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (33%), Cabernet Franc (6%) and Petit Verdot (1%).
It is dressed in a dark ruby colour, slightly lighter on the edges.
Pavillon Rouge 2000 exhibits a magnificent forest bouquet, with aromas of black fruits such as blueberries and crushed blackberries, wrapped in scents of cedar, leaves, freshly ploughed soil and leather.
On the palate, the Pavillon Rouge de Margaux 2000 offers surprisingly well-distributed, fine and light tannins. A little thick on the palate, covered with fine matter, it presents a silky and elegant style.
It is a wine of pleasure that will recall beautiful spring walks.
