About Château La Fleur de Boüard 2016
Bottle (75cl)

Located in the heart of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, Château La Fleur de Bouärd saw its destiny change in 1998 when Hubert de Boüard de Laforest (current manager of the famous Château Angélus) decided to acquire it, convinced that its terroir, combined with rigorous know-how, would enable it to create an incredible Cru, as good as its illustrious neighbours.

The vineyard of Château La Fleur de Bouärd extends over an area of 25 hectares divided into two distinct terroirs: 2/3 clayey gravel and 1/3 large gravel. The grape varieties are divided between three typical AOC varieties: Merlot (85%), Cabernet Franc (12%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (3%).

Château La Fleur de Bouärd 2016 benefited from manual harvesting with double sorting (before and after destemming) followed by a long ageing period of 18 to 24 months in oak barrels (3/4 new barrels).

Château La Fleur de Bouärd 2016 is a blend dominated by Merlot (85%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). It has a magnificent purple colour with garnet-red reflections.
Shy at first on the nose, a few swirls are enough for it to blossom. It then releases a generous bouquet, bursting with juicy black fruits, black currants, and cherries, wrapped in complex notes of minerals, earth, and dried tobacco.
Moderately full-bodied, Château La Fleur de Bouärd 2016 opens with an energetic attack. The fruity aromas grow and evolve in the mid-palate releasing a lively freshness, supported by a fine and velvety tannic structure. The remarkably persistent finish also reveals subtle spicy notes as well as a mineral touch, giving a perfect balance to the blend.

Incredibly successful, Château La Fleur de Bouärd 2016 is just entering its peak of maturity and should continue to evolve for at least the next 15 years.
