Bordeaux 1ère Cotes-de-Bordeaux 1962

  • Having many great vintages, Bordeaux is a land of wine! Historic site of Bordeaux wine production, the Gironde department in Aquitaine is known for its internationally renowned vintages.
It groups together many Appellations of Controlled Origin such as Médoc, Graves or Bordeaux Supérieur. Many great wines, including Pomerol (Pétrus), Saint Emilion (Cheval Blanc), Sauternes (Château d’Yquem) ou bien encore (Pauillac par exemple Latour, Lafite, Mouton Rothschild) have built the reputation of Bordeaux wines. In addition to the local appellations, it also includes regional appellations such as Bordeaux Supérieur. The superior Bordeaux, moreover, has the particularity of being composed of grapes from old vines. Its wine is necessarily matured for more than nine months.
Although this is not the only reason for the important viticulture in this area of the South-West, it benefits from climatic conditions and the diversity of soil texture, which make the quality of Bordeaux wines. However, the reason for the establishment of the wine trade in this region is above all very ancient and historical. The origins of the Bordeaux vineyard go back to the 1st century, when the vines began to be planted; but it is mainly in the Middle Ages that trade around Bordeaux wine developed, due to the rise of navigation and rivers facilitating it in this region.
The last notable vintage, 2009 was particularly successful for the Bordeaux wine as a whole. It has left its mark on the minds of amateurs with its quality and taste, whether white or red.
Bordeaux wines are renowned all over the world for their incomparable aromas. Its grands crus are made up of a judicious blend of grape varieties characteristic of the region's wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Carmenère, for the red; Sauvignon, Muscadelle, and Sémillon for the white. Other accessory grape varieties are also used for white wines, but in limited quantities: Ugni Blanc, Ondenc, Merlot Blanc and Colombard.

  • PREMIERES COTES DE BORDEAUX, or 1ERES COTES DE BORDEAUX : an AOC separated in two since 2009

Since 2009, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, a controlled designation of origin for the Bordeaux vineyard, created in 1937, has been separated into two new AOCs: Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux for red wines and Côtes de Bordeaux for sweet and sweet white wines. In the past, 1ères Côtes de Bordeaux used to combine white and red wines, which is no longer the case today.

PREMIERES COTES DE BORDEAUX, or 1ERES COTES DE BORDEAUX: white wines

For white wines, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux (or 1ères Côtes de Bordeaux), now known as Côtes de Bordeaux Blanc, produces sweet and sweet wines made from Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Grape varieties vary according to the production areas. There are also differences in the terroirs and taste nuances between the wines due to this diversity. However, the white wines of the appellation often have fruity, floral or woody aromas.

PREMIERES COTES DE BORDEAUX, or 1ERES COTES DE BORDEAUX: red wines

For red wines, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux (or Premier Côtes de Bordeaux), now Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux, produces refined, subtle and fruity red wines made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. There are also nuances between the wines according to the terroir and the producing estates, but these wines often have fruity and spicy aromas.
