The Ogier family has been established for many generations on the Côte-Rôtie and has always grown grapes, apricots and other various fruits and sold its products to merchants.

It was in 1997, after Stéphane Ogier finished his oenology studies and joined his father, Michel, that Domaine Ogier expanded. Indeed, between 1997 and 2015 and under Stéphane's direction, the property grew from a size of 2.5 hectares to an area of about twenty hectares spread over several appellations (Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Condrieu, etc...). During this period, Domaine Stéphane Ogier stops mixed farming and sales to the trade to refocus its activity on viticulture and the vinification of its production.

Since 2014, Stéphane Ogier benefits from an ultramodern winery in Ampuis which allows him to experiment and put into practice all his knowledge of oenology. It is this exceptional winery, along with its style, precision and ever-increasing demands, that have propelled Stéphane Ogier to the highest level of the appellation in just a few years!

The Saint-Joseph Stéphane Ogier Le Passage 2018 is made from a blend of 100% Syrah, mainly from Malleval, and has been vinified in 30% new oak barrels.
In the glass, it has a magnificent deep purple color with garnet reflections and distils a bouquet of juicy blackberries intermingled with notes of black olives and peppery spices.
On the palate, the Saint-Joseph Le Passage 2018 is moderately full-bodied. The fruity aromas unfold all their power and intensity in the mid-palate, enhanced by a fine and silky tannic line, to conclude on a delicious, precise and remarkably persistent finish.

The Saint-Joseph Stéphane Ogier Le Passage 2018 can already be tasted, but it will benefit from spending a few more years in the cellar. It should remain at its peak of maturity at least until 2030.
