Produced from a 100% Merlot blend, the 1949 vintage of Pomerol's most famous wine is a monument!

Petrus 1949 has a slightly brownish ruby/green colour on the edges.
From the very first nose this 1949 vintage of Petrus opens admirably, releasing rich and deep scents in a decadent abundance, while remaining elegant and subtle.
On the palate, Petrus 1949 is moderately full-bodied, with soft tannins and a perfectly balanced acidity. The palate is quickly lined with refreshing and fruity aromas of black cherries wrapped in dark, full-bodied chocolate until the long, smooth and perfectly balanced finish.

Despite his great age, Petrus 1949 has retained his youthful energy. It can be enjoyed now but reserve can be bigger surprises to amateurs who will have the patience to give it a few more years!
