About Château Malartic-Lagravière 2014
Bottle (75cl)

Formerly called Domaine de la Gravière, Château Malartic-Lagravière acquired its current name following its purchase in 1850 by Mrs Aurnaud Ricard, who added the name of its former owner, the Count of Malartic.

Today the vineyard of Château Malartic-Lagravière covers an area of about fifty hectares of gravelly soil with a clay-limestone subsoil.
Of this total surface area, 46 hectares are dedicated to red wine, the remaining 7 hectares being dedicated to white wine. The estate's grape varieties are typical of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon (45% each), Cabernet Franc (8%) and a little Petit Verdot (2%).
The estate is run according to the principles of sustainable agriculture (no weedkillers or pesticides) and was awarded Agrocert certification in 2008.

Made from a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), supplemented by Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (3%), Château Malartic-Lagravière 2014 has been aged in oak barrels (70% new wood).

In the glass, Chateau Malartic-Lagravière 2014 exhibits a beautiful deep, dark purple color with ruby highlights.
Rich and opulent from the first nose, it distils a bouquet bursting with ripe black fruits with iodine notes. After a few swirls in the glass, delicately floral notes emerge in turn, adding a touch of elegance to the blend.
On the palate, Château Malartic-Lagravière 2014 opens with a moderate attack. The mid-palate reveals a beautiful black fruit core, supported by a fat and ripe tannic structure, before warm notes of pepper and spices emerge on a remarkably persistent finish.
