Troisième Cru Classé
Château Calon Ségur 2002 is a 3rd Cru Classé de Saint-Estèphe, made from vines of 40 years old average age planted on a terroir of gravel.
For the anecdote, the heart on the label of this wine is the creation of Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, who wanted to show his love for this Cru.
Composed of a blend of four grape varieties with 56% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, completed by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, Château Calon Ségur has a deep ruby colour with purple tints.
The nose, Château Calon Ségur 2002 exhibits a bouquet of red and black fruits, subtly spiced and covered with noble scents of undergrowth and earth.
On the palate, it offers a soft attack, with surprisingly silky tannins giving it a sublime texture. Fruits are always present, black cherries, redcurrants and plums, but a little more spicy than on the nose. They tappet the palate until a very frank final but perhaps a little bit of power is missing.
